BFHL Entry Draft Update & Our *JULY 1st * Deadline

Hey BFHL GMs!

I hope all your summer's have gone well!

We are *ahem* racing through to the final round of the draft!  Hope you all got most of the players you wanted and hope they will become integral parts of your team in the very near future!

With this style of league, it's not necessarily today that we are playing for.  We are playing to build successful teams year in and year out and just like the NHL, we have a salary cap and we need these young players to be impact players quickly so we can take advantage of their lower salaries (ie: Toews).  Note that our players' ratings will be typically based on the previous NHL season.  So while the Aviators rode the back of Luongo all year, they may suffer a bit this year since his ratings will have dropped due to his lack luster season.  Meanwhile, I'm excited by my own Henrik Sedin and the eventual BFHL cup he'll lead me to this year (95PA 76SC baby!)

The next phase to start planning for is September 12th, 2010 @ NOON Pacifc Time.  This is our version of the July 1st free agency deadline where it's your window to sign YOUR players (RFA & UFA).  How are you going to sign players?  Well we took all the guess work out for you and made it a game of chance.  Shortly, I'll be passing around the Free Agency Tool.  Co-Commish Ivan (Bombers GM) spent a lot of work on this and basically, all you do is select the players you want to re-sign, select a salary and term and that's it!  There are guidelines given as for what's appropriate.  Depending on what you want to offer, you will see the percent probability your player will accept your offer.  If you don't want to take chances, pick the number that will give you 100% chance.  If you want to risk it, go for a number that results in 75% probability.  You give me your offers and I'll process them and let you know the results hopefully that evening! (If I get all the offers earlier than the deadline, I'll process them earlier.)

SALARY CAP THIS YEAR IS: $59.4 Million - Keep that in mind while doing your signings!

Undoubtly you'll still be missing pieces and will need to sign more free agents or activate your prospect.  If your prospect has a rating, he is eligeable to play in BFHL 2010/11!  If he's eligeable and you want him to play, we will just take whatever is remaining on their NHL contract as their BFHL contract.  So tell me at the same time if you want your prospect activated.

There will be at least two more rounds of free agency and I'll set them now tentatively for September 19th @ NOON PST and September 26th @ NOON PST.  It will be the same thing with using the free agency tool to submit your offers.  If there are multiple offers for the same player, I will pick the best one.  If it's a tie, I will announce it and you'll have to resubmit an offer.  In regards to RFAs, the original team will have the right to match.

That's more than enough now for a heads up!  Start taking a look at your team and what kind of players you want.

Thanks Everyone!  Can't wait to get the season started!

Anthony, BFHL Commish
