Hey Everyone
Just wanted to make sure everyone understood what happened with signings yesterday.
It was pointed out to me that our rules allow you to submit signings for your own RFA at anytime.
We get mixed up on the terminlogy sometimes:
- UFA - Unrestricted Free Agent
- All players that have no contract and do not belonging to a team
- RFA - Restricted Free Agent
- Players with no contract and belongs to a team
- These are the young players
- They are free agents but restricted meaning other teams can make offers on them as long as proper compensation is available (see rule book)
- Free Agency Signing Windows
- These exixt in our league for my own sanity, I don't want to potentially process bids at any time.
- Also they help consolidate bids to create 'competition' for players
- RFAs are allowed to be anytime the RFA owning GM chooses but must be mindful that the 10% minimum rebid could escalate contract values very quickly. So there are some caveats in trying to get lucky and lowball your RFA.
Some of you may have given me sheets with your own RFA and UFA combined, for the January 5th deadline. If you want ot process your own RFA earlier, let me know and send me a sheet with only your own RFA. I don't open the free agency sheets until day of processing.
Thanks and sorry for any confusion!
Anthony
