Hey Everyone,
With all the dealing going down, everyone needs to be mindful that we do have a salary cap. Yes we have a farm team but you also need to ensure flexiblity to be able to move guys up and down and stay within cap boundaries at all time. Classic example is how a Johnny Gaudreau managed to help a perfect sandbag and had to stay in the farm all of last season, only to make his appearance in playoffs once cap constraints were off.
Grrrrr....
The numbers:
- Max Pro Salary cap: $75 million
- Max Farm Salary cap: $2.715 million (Farm salary is 10% of the pro salary)
- Pro Salary Floor: $54 million
- Mininum Salary: $650,000
- Max Salary: $15 million
- 35 Players is the mininum number of players you need signed by the start of the season.
Note also that this is a spending cap. Throughout the season, the players will be paid. So you can "save salary cap money" by keeping more players in the farm until they are needed. You can save up spending room so that when we're 50% into the season, that $8 million/year player is now only owned $4 million for the rest of the year.
Feel free to post if any questions or comments
