Hey Everyone

Sorry for the delay in communicating this.  I just haven't had the time to push this so now, it's now or never Smile

So from the feedback received and testing we've done, we're going to switch simulation engines back to what we had last year.  In terms of actual game play, it's definitely far superior.  I expect that there'll be less randomness in terms of poorly managed teams winning and the good teams should continue to be the good teams espeically after the adjustment period of tweaking lines a little bit.

There will be changes and some ASTERISK points though, take note:

  • Player ratings will change.  The ratings are designed for the 2.1 engine to reign in the kinda high scoring we had last year.
    • Check the forums here for the links to the new ratings and also a complete list of the current ratings we are on.
  • To preserve all the signings, we are still using the current signing sheet.
  • There are a bunch of old players (ie: Martin St. Louis, etc) in the new ratings list, they will not be introduced to our league.
  • There are a bunch of players in our league that don't have a matching new rating.  They will be rated just 25's across.  They are kept to preserve our cap hits.
  • 4 players on 4 teams will be affected, in that they have played a number of games.  They will have a rating of 25 across:
    1. Dany Kristo of Tigers with 13 GP
    2. Jordan Schmaltz of Bullies with 12 GP
    3. Robert Hagg of Torpedos with 8 GP
    4. VIlle Pokka of Worgs with 19 GP
  • In total, there are 86 players on all our teams that are affected but have 0 games played.
  • I welcome someone to take a look at the ratings to maybe find a way to convert about 500 players from the current ratings to the new ratings.  If suitable, I can apply them later in the season.

This change is purely to bring back some playability to the game.

As for planning for next year, the good thing is we know that a top player in NHL is generally a top player in BFHL and it does come to how we build our teams.  However, I'm mindful of the fact that there are many specific attributes that we all look for in a player when building our teams so it's definitely a hard area to plan when the numbers change.

It is unfortunate that the people we rely on, to provide the ratings for our league to use, haven't really fully figured out the best way forward.  Therefore there'll definitely be adjustments unexpected or not as they keep finding new methodologies and formulas to build a proper matching player profile.

Thanks for reading, looking put this in play soon.

Anthony
