Hey Everyone
Hope everything is going well, league is humming along, but it's kind of not either. Sorry another long one here, it's ok been a while since I had a chance to say something about BFHL
Ever since I made the call to follow our ratings provider to switch to the 1.5 engine (because they couldn't figure out 2.1 properly and so many other leagues live by 1.5), I was worried about what it would mean. Like I knew it's supposed to reign in the scoring to be more 'realistic', but playability aspect was what worried me the most because I really liked our previous seasons and the ability for the GM to have control of their destiny.
My playoff exit last year, while disappointing, was also interesting to witness as Bullies GM, Sunny, pick apart the offensive dominance of my one line team and rendered them unable to finish off a 3-1 series lead. Today, I'm seeing nice and tidy results but seemngly lacking in terms of substance where game play by plays are plentiful but doesn't seem to relate much to what we set. I don't know how the 1.5 leagues can accept this as a good simulation. Perhaps our higher scoring seasons were simply a factor of our ability to put great lines together
It's not just me, I know a few guys in the BFHL chat earlier were making some comments about the simming, but I've tried to hold a patient wait and see a bigger sample size before deciding. Overly patient I might add but unfortunately I'm unable to work on BFHL full time
What to do next? Well I'm not one who likes to change things mid season but I think it's worth taking a look at moving us back to the 2.1 sim engine we had the last few years.
What does it mean? Probably a ratings change as you saw when we went from 2.1 to 1.5. It's all relative though since all the players are based on the same formula of producing ratings, so while the numbers may change, it would be changed consistently across the board. If we do change ratings, what about signings. Well the signing sheet will still be based on the old numbers since that's what we used to design the tool. Bottom line, the good players are still good players and bad players are still bad players.
What are you thoughts? Sound off on the site.
Thanks for your time!
Anthony
