We are now a couple weeks into the inaugural BFHL season. In consideration of the fact that many of you are new to this style of hockey league and the fact that we had changed the ratings slightly (for defencemen) during the draft, we are giving all GMs a chance to love your team that much more. The freebie drop is a one time event, so make the most of it.
We are still trying to hash out some kind of methodology for "Free Agents" in the future so the details below are just for this time only. Before all the details, an important thing to note is there will be a penalty if it turns out you messed up and find yourself unable to get under the cap. You MUST be below the cap in both the Pro and Farm team.
The penalty is harsh. If it turns out we have to release some players on your team because of cap issues, you will lose one pick in the prospect draft for every player we need to release from your team.
Details for the Freebie & FA Pick Up period are as follows:
Player Release Details
- Maximum of three player releases per team without any buyout/residual cap costs (You don't have to release anyone if you don't want to)
- Post the three players you'd like to drop by 9pm PST on Friday October 23rd in the Free Agent Forums
- Any requests after this time will not be valid
- Released players available for bidding on the 30th of October
Unassigned Players List Bidding
There are no limits on the number of bids you can make but take note of the penalty if you can't work under the cap. Penalty: you will lose one pick in the prospect draft for every player we need to release from your team. This is open to all GMs and there is no real limit to the number of players you can have in your farm except of the salary cap limit.
There will be two chances to bid on the Unassigned Players. First date is October 23rd, Second date is October 30th. Released players only available for bidding on the second date (since they wont't be available until after the 23rd).
You can place bids on players using the client program, under the menu Team and then Free Agents option. When finished placing your bids, you can save your list to a "Team123.SHF" file. Upload this file to the Free Agent Forums like you do with your lines. Available players can be found in the League Index, Unassigned or click this direct link.
Bidding details and rules:
- MINIMUM bid for a player is their NHL contract. No signing bonuses. The bid will be void if this is not respected.
- Your "Team123.SHF" file must be posted on the forum before sim time (8:50pm PST) on October 23rd. Same time for the second round of free agent bidding on October 30th.
- If no one bids on the player you want, then they player will be yours.
- If there are multiple bids but yours is the highest, then the player goes to you.
- If there are multiple bids at the same salary, the GMs and anyone else wanting to join the bid will have a chance to re-bid their offers on October 30th.
