Hi All
Catching my breath here again from work and the odd CO alarm issues... like tonight sigh. Stupid 'contractor special' boiler. My tip for you when buying a house, make sure you grill your inspector to check for abnormal outputs of CO. If your boiler set up looks mickey mouse, it'll perform like it too!
Anyways, as you've already met the new West Coast Killer, Lisa, I'd like to formaly introduce Brian Lam as the new GM of the Dream Team. A situation arose quite unexpectedly but we were able to quickly catch that and transition to a new GM without too much fuss. Please join me in welcoming Brian to BFHL.
So the draft has started and moving along somewhat. I would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone some policies of BFHL
The off season is always the most amount of work but afterwards, the season is normally pretty much cruise control. We don't want this league to be a burden on anyone and we definitely want a fun experience for all. So in order to acheive a good harmonious level among all GMs please keep in mind the following:
- Respect each other's work load. Unfortunately we all have other responsibilities like kids and/or work and/or school and/or etc. Sometimes we get busy and that's OK. Also note that BFHL GMs are not only in Vancouver, but the East Coast and Asia as well.
- Anytime there are expected long durations away from emails and what not, please let the commisioner team know so we are aware and can help keep on top of things while you're unavailable.
- Ensure good communication by using emails. We all have emails and we probably all check it at least once a day. If someone is asking questions and you are unable to respond direclty until later on, reply and simply say so. It's ok because of point 1. I tell people all the time that I can't think about a trade proposal at this time.
- Forum Drafting. We implemented this to make this easier and casual and not requiring 20 people to be available at the same time around the world to do a draft. While the stated rule is 24hrs allowed for posting your selection, we can't all take a full 24hrs otherwise we'll never finish drafting. Please help the process by posting your selection at your earliest convenience.
Finally I hope to be able to announce ratings officially next week. It's not a random process. There are people who do lots of work to crunch all this statistical data to produce an accurate representation of a player's ability. We are just making sure we are going to pick the best one.
Sorry for the long email, thanks for reading.
Anthony
PS: NEW GMs, Your free drop and pick ups are under review, just something I want to run by one of the commisioners first.
