Nokians Late Season Report: Traction Acheived Ready for Lift Off!

Nokians's picture

When we last spoke with the Nokians, spirits were low and expectations non existent.  The team was going no where with no identity and some key players slumping.  The Nokians GM however did vow to read into the "Tales of the Tapes" and find a solution.  Around day 57, things started turning around and with a few more tinkerings, the Nokians today are 18-4-1 in their last 23 and top of the league at the time of this writing.

Nearing the trade deadline and seeing an opportunity, the Nokians pulled of several key trades.  First was the trading away of future number one goalie, Brian Elliot and defensemen Michal Rozsival in return for Ian White who helps solidfy DF with some puck moving ability and great back up in Scott Clemmenson.

Next up. the Nokians did a tough one, moving highly touted PK Subban and farm hands Bobby Butler & Roman Polak for Brandon Sutter and shot blocking king Greg Zanon.  Sutter immediately supplanted Marty Reasoner to the farm, who cleared waivers, and looks to be a major fixture on the 3rd line center spot behind Tavares and Pavelski.

Finally the Nokians were able to beef up SC by acquiring rental player Chris Kunitz for Tomas Kopecky and Matt D'agostini.

The trades on the blueline made sense for now as the Nokians can consider keeping everyone or instead, evaluate some up and coming players.

Temporary or not, the trades did not hurt the Nokians but increased depth and made them a strong contendor for the BFHL Cup
